Four major measures to prevent water hammer damage during reverse osmosis operations

"Water hammer" is caused by air mixed in the pressure vessel. When starting the device, necessary means are not used to remove the air in the vessel, so that when the high-pressure water flow mixed with air moves into the vessel, it will produce violent vibrations. In severe cases, it will The Membrane Element will be smashed into pieces, causing irrecoverable losses.
Common preventive measures are:
(1) High-pressure pumps should be avoided by using soft-start methods, such as voltage reduction start, variable frequency speed regulation start, and series resistance start with automatic controller.
(2) Avoid operating methods, such as closing or reducing the inlet valve at startup, and then slowly opening the valve until the system working pressure is reached.

(3) Use control to prevent and avoid, such as using PLC to control an electric slow door opening to open the valve within tens of seconds.

(4) Use installation techniques to prevent this, such as setting up a return pipe at the concentrated water discharge port so that the highest point of the pipe exceeds the highest pressure vessel in the reverse osmosis device, so that the pressure vessel will be filled with water when the device stops operating.
The above points are commonly used measures in engineering applications. You can adopt all of them or adopt several points according to the actual situation. It is worth noting that point 4 is necessary no matter which project.
